Through July 9, 2012 El Greco to Goya:Masterpieces from the Prado Museum For the first time in Puerto Rico and the United States, the public will be able to view an exhibit comprised entirely of masterworks from the collection of the Prado Museum in Madrid. With Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico as its venue, this unprecedented exhibit will showcase 25 works by some of the great masters of Spanish painting, including Francisco de Goya, El Greco, Diego Velazquez, Peter Paul Rubens and Francisco de Zurbaran. May 14-20, 2012 Restaurant Week For 7 days, 30 top restaurants in the San Juan Metro Area will offer customers a three-course Prix Fixe dinner menu (including appetizer, entrée and dessert) for either $29 or $39, depending on the venue. Alcoholic beverages, gratuity and tax are not included in the price but select restaurants will include a welcome cocktail or glass of wine. There are no passes, tickets or coupons needed to take part in Restaurant Week but spaces are limited so diners are encouraged to make reservations. The event does not take place in one specific location; rather, it takes place at each participating restaurant simultaneously. June 29-July 8, 2012 Aibonito Flower Festival The Festival de las Flores or Aibonito Flower Festival takes place on 25 acres of land near the mountain town of Aibonito. The festival is supported by hundreds of growers from around the island. Expect to see the newest varieties of local flowers as well as more recognized flowers. Flower stands will be filled with lilies, carnations, gardenias, roses, begonias and anthuriums. In addition, there will be an artisans market, live music and local food for a great festival atmosphere. The first festival was back in 1969 and this annual event has been entertaining thousands of visitors each year since then.
